STEP - 1
OVULATION INDUCTION

The IVF process begins with ovulation induction. This involves stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, as more eggs increase the chances of a successful fertilization. Fertility medications, often in the form of hormone injections, are administered to encourage the growth of several follicles. Regular monitoring through ultrasounds and blood tests helps the fertility team track the progress of egg development.

STEP - 2
EGG RETRIEVAL

Once the eggs reach maturity, a minor surgical procedure known as egg retrieval is performed. This typically takes place about 36 hours after the final dose of ovulation-inducing medication. The procedure is conducted under sedation, and a thin needle is used to extract the eggs from the follicles. The collected eggs are then immediately placed in a culture dish and transferred to the laboratory for fertilization.

STEP - 3
SPERM COLLECTION AND FERTILIZATION

Simultaneously, sperm is collected from the male partner or a sperm donor. The retrieved eggs and sperm are combined in the laboratory, and fertilization is monitored closely. In some cases, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may be recommended, where a single sperm is directly injected into an egg to facilitate fertilization. The embryologist observes the embryos' development over the next few days.

STEP - 4
EMBRYO CULTURE

The fertilized eggs, now embryos, are cultured in a controlled environment for a few days, typically three to five. During this crucial period, the embryologist assesses the embryos' quality and selects the healthiest ones for transfer. Advanced technologies, such as time-lapse imaging, may be used to monitor the embryos' development more closely.

STEP - 5
EMBBRYO TRANSFER

The selected embryos are transferred into the woman's uterus in a simple and outpatient procedure. Before the transfer, the fertility team discusses the number of embryos to transfer based on various factors, including the woman's age and the embryos' quality. The goal is to maximize the chances of implantation while minimizing the risk of multiple pregnancies. After the transfer, patients may be advised to rest for a short period before resuming their normal activities.

STEP - 6
PREGNANCY TEST AND FOLLOW-UP

Approximately 10 to 14 days after the embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is conducted to determine whether implantation has occurred. A positive result brings immeasurable joy and the realization of the dream of parenthood.
